According to Clarity Resourcing there is a hug skills shortage across Europe for Basel III and Solvency II Compliance skills and knowledge.

The Financial Sector is flying as far as IT Contractors are concerned.

Through the Roof

Although rates for most IT Contractors have gone up in the past year rates for some Developer skills have been sent through the roof.

For instance ETL developers have seen a 52% rise.

Developers in BI/BO have seen a whopping 65% rise.

Just imagine earning half or two thirds more than you did this time last year.

No Overheads

The good thing about extra money is that it is all without overheads and gives s huge boost to your bank balance.

Programme Managers, Business Analysts and Project Managers are earning 20% more than they did a year ago.

Strong Demand

“Regulatory changes introduced by the Financial Services Authority such as Solvency II, Basel III and RDR has created a strong demand for high calibre contractors experienced in business-change and risk management.”

It’s all looking good news for contractors in those sectors but it has a good knock on effect for contractors outside those sectors as it sucks contractors into those sectors and out of other ones causing better contract prospects elsewhere and causing rates to rise too.
